We are looking for a reliable, practical and proactive Maintenance/Handyperson to join our team at Silverways Nursing Home. The ideal candidate will have good general building maintenance skills, including plumbing, joinery, plastering, painting and decorating, and be able to carry out routine maintenance, repairs and respond to urgent issues. Good communication, problem-solving skills, a sound understanding of health and safety, and a caring, respectful approach to working in a nursing home environment are essential. Previous maintenance experience is desirable, along with a commitment to maintaining a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for our residents.

We are currently recruiting a Senior Night Carer to provide high-quality care and support to our residents throughout the night, ensuring their safety, comfort, dignity, and overall wellbeing.

​

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing compassionate, person-centred care and support to residents throughout overnight shifts.

• Assisting residents with personal care and other daily needs as required.

• Completing regular night checks and responding promptly to residents’ needs and call bells.

• Monitoring residents and reporting any changes in their health or wellbeing appropriately.

• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date care records and documentation.

• Supervising and supporting night care staff, providing guidance and ensuring care standards are consistently maintained.

• Responding calmly and appropriately to incidents, emergencies, or challenging situations.

• Promoting residents’ independence, dignity, choice, and privacy at all times.

• Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure continuity and consistency of care.

 

The role requires strong leadership skills, compassion, reliability, and the ability to remain calm under pressure, while maintaining a professional and person-centred approach to care.

Are you looking to make a positive difference in your spare time? We have a variety of volunteer positions available at Silverways Nursing Home. From spending time socialising with the residents, to helping out with our activities programme or even taking some of the residents on a short walk to the local amenities.
